For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 1 John 2:16 NKJV
Our Father, You warn us that our sinful nature is vulnerable to the lust-eliciting attacks of worldly temptations and that our weakest spot is in the area of pride. Deliver us from being boastful hypocrites who love pomp, who make false boasts, who vaingloriously pursue the honours, luxuries, and splendours of life, and who love to show off in order to win praise and accolades. Teach us to treasure the humble pursuit of Your kingdom above everything the world has to offer. In Jesus Name, Amen.
